DONATIONS GO TOWARDS

 Donations

This summer a New Accessible Outdoor Playground  is going to be built.   The primary focus of our fundraising will be to help pay for some of the equipment. Other money raised will go toward the areas highlighted on our Wish List. Priority is based on the discretion of the Principal.

Outdoor Playground

THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF OUR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN!

Donations raised this year will be used to help enhance the Outdoor Playground areas.  The playground will include a specialized ground cover,  specialized play structures and equipment so it is fully accessible and appropriate for the current students physical, sensory, and intellectual needs.

The playground will include new features such as a new ground cover,  accessible pathways,  wheelchair and bucket/supportive swings, merry go round, climbing structure, and interactive sensory play panels.

The playground was originally constructed around 1993; so at least 30 years later it requires significant changes.  We hope you will help us by contributing to the funding of a new and amazing accessible playground for the students at Sunny View School and our community.

The Toy Doctor Program

The current Toy Doctor Program was originally started 10 years ago by Dale Zimmerman. She created this essential program to assist the many students who require adaptations to equipment in order for them to be able to use it effectively and efficiently, be comfortable and to also be in an optimal position to allow them to become as independent as possible during everyday tasks.

These activities may include eating, cutting, drawing, accessing their computer and communication displays.   Having access to sensory equipment to help with self regulation, reading/listening to books independently, riding a bike, and playing with toys are only some of the activities which the Toy Doctor program assists with.

Ryan Tait has now taken over this role and is continuing to create innovative ways to help our students and to assist teachers.  These adaptions can be seen throughout this website and on his Instagram page called "Toy Doctorer".

The Friends of Sunny View School Charity provides funds to help support this essential program which enhances the lives and independence of the students.
